Free Play...

In creating, we tend to take ourselves very seriously...I am always amazed at watching my children play, seeing how they are able to lose themselves completely in the moment...some of my most exciting creations- whether they were in word or in action, have come when I am completely absorbed in what I am doing..some people call it "the zone" some people call it "stream of consciousness creating"...whatever it is, children seem to do it naturally...it is hard to get out of my own head sometimes, I think and worry way too much! But, that in itself is a distraction...so, here is my message to the world in a picture...play.laugh.live. don't be serious about being serious. I know it is hard to see but opposite Gumby is a laughing Buddha which reminds me to not be so serious and to laugh more...ever hear it takes more muscles to frown then smile? ever wonder why the phrase "relaxing into a smile" is used?

  1. Sports get to use the verb "play" . . . play rugby. Musicians get to use the verb "play" . . . play the accordian. I say STEAL that word and use it for what you love. We are all too serious, and it seems to come naturally. But I agree - watch the children. We're supposed to be like them. We used to be.
