This past week I have suffered from a killer migraine...I have never had it so bad and it got to the point where I just had to focus on the small daily things I do everyday to just be able to make it through. I don't always give much thought to how, as humans, we live cycles. From being a woman, and the monthly cycle of my own body; to my family and the daily rituals of sleeping, eating, playing, working together; on to monthly lunar cycles of new moon to full moon; to our yearly seasonal cycles- Autumn, Winter, Spring, Summer, and finally our life cycles- Birth, Growth, Death- Maiden, Mother, and Crone. These cycles in our lives can come and go without the least thought about them, or we can create rituals to welcome them and turn the wheel of life a little. I believe through ritual and celebrations we enter into life more fully, that we are able to feel we are participants in this Great Journey. I love to find reasons to celebrate things. Working in my garden, I am so excited to see new life pop up everywhere and watch how plants even have their own cycles. Sometimes we can learn so much from just observing...okay, enough philosophy at this point...the good news is that my headache is gone, I feel so much better! We also have added to our family (giggle) Chris unknowingly adopted some neighborhood ducks by feeding them and now they visit our yard every day- a male and female...we have yet to name them but they are so cute to watch and Sean just loves to chase them.
